- The only race of its kind in Minnesota. This race is strictly for those athletes who have never done a triathlon before. We limit the size of this race to 150. Although this is chip timed, there are no designated winners. The purpose of this event is to have our participants fall in love with the sport of triathlon. So we provide extra support to our athletes to make sure their experience is a successful one. This is by far our favorite race of the season because the participants represent all ages, abilities and goals, Many come to this race having overcome personal obstacles in the hope of calling themselves triathletes. We do everything we can to make sure this happens for everyone. It is an inspiring experience. Past participants have told us they love that they did not have to compete against experienced triathletes. The atmosphere is laid back, supportive and fun.
Course Information:
- The race takes place almost entirely within the beautiful Rice Creek Chain of Lakes park in Lino Lakes. The swim is 400 yards. Participants enter the water one by one with a three second delay between athletes (a time trial start) to ensure no one is climbing over our first time triathletes as they make their way through the course, One less thing for our athletes to worry about. The bike course is flat and features a two loop course on the paved paths of the park (roughly 2 miles of the course is on roads with ample shoulders). The run is a flat two mile out and back. Hammer Heed replacement fluid will be provided at the run turnaround.
