_ 2017 Shell Lake Lions Triathlon:
The 5th annual Shell Lake Lions Triathlon is held in northwest Wisconsin. 1 hour from Duluth 2 hours from the twin cities and 4 hours from Madison. Our event features the clean waters of Shell Lake and scenic rural routes.
Course Information:
The first stage is a 1/3 mile swim. The course is out and back near the fishing pier at Shell Lake Memorial Park. Once done swimmers run to the transition area located in the grass area North of the bandshell.
The second stage is a 15 mile bike North on the bike path to Cty B, North on Cty K, East on Woodcraft to 253, South to Cty B, East to the Red Barn Campground then South to Lake Dr. The course then follows Lake Dr. around the lake to Industrial Dr. to the bike path North to the transition area.
The final stage is a 3 mile run. The course goes North on the ATV trail to Cty B, North on Cty K, East on Honeybee to the ATV trail. The last leg is South on the ATV trail to the finish line near the flag poles.
Directions:
Shell Lake is on US Hwy 63. From the twin cities take I-35 north to US Hwy 8 east to Turtle Lake, WI and north on US Hwy 63 to Shell Lake. The beach and park are downtown east of the hwy.
From Duluth take US Hwy 53 south to US Hwy 63 south, just north of Spooner,
From Eau Claire, WI, take US Hxy 53 north to county D, in Sarona, west to US Hwy 63 and north to the beach.
