The newest addition to our series is the St. Mary’s Triathlon located in historic St. Mary’s City in Southern Maryland. Nestled between the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River just a few miles from Point Lookout State Park this race is a hidden gem. The college and race site are on a bluff overlooking a cove on the St. Mary’s River and are just minutes from great lodging and restaurant options in Lexington Park and Solomon’s Island. Historic St. Mary’s City was the first colonial settlement in Maryland and St. Mary’s College was founded in 1840. You will love the beautiful swim venue, smooth low traffic roads for the bike course and partially shaded low traffic run course. Don’t miss out on this inaugural event!

Course Details
Swim: The swim course is a 750 meter rectangular course in a sheltered cove on the St. Mary’s River. The swim start and finish utilizes the St. Mary’s College Waterfront area. So, you’ll be starting off their docks next to their fleet of sunfish and other watercraft. The water temperature is expected to be in the low 70’s and we will post a preliminary water temperature the Thursday evening prior to the event. An official reading will be taken by our USAT officials race morning.
Bike: The bike course is very fast and mostly flat with the exception of a small hill done in the first mile going past the swim venue. The course is one loop for the Sprint. The clockwise course consists of 4 right hand turns with large shoulders on 80% of the course. The scenery is amazing with views of the St. Mary’s River, St. Mary’s College, and the agricultural vistas that make this part of Maryland so scenic.
Run: The course is an out 1.55 miles and back to the finish line. The course will have full sun for the first and last mile while the middle is heavily shaded. There will be an aid station at the start of the run and approximately every mile thereafter. Aid stations will have water and ice.
