  _ 2017 Daybreak Triathlon:

- In 2011 we introduced a new point-to-point swim course and our athletes loved it! The Daybreak Tri offers triathletes an epic urban open water swim close to home. The swim takes place in Oquirrh Lake at Daybreak and offers a fast swim-to-bike transition. The bike course starts in Daybreak and goes past the Kennecott Copper mine and back. The run will take place inside of Daybreak on the fantastic trail systems that circles the lake. This race completely sold out in it's first year, 2009, and became an instant classic in the Utah Triathlon scene.

Course Information:

SWIM COURSE(750 Meters Sprint / 1500 Meters Olympic). The open-water swim course has been a huge success in the past few years. Our athletes loved the point-to-point swim and the course will remain the same in 2017.

Water temperatures are expected to be approximately 67 degrees.

BIKE COURSE (23.5K Sprint / 33K Olympic)

Athletes will head South on Kestrel Rise and take a right on Daybreak Parkway (new course). Bikers will continue due west on a false flat until reaching the Bacchus highway. Making a left hand turn onto Bacchus, racers will conquer two challenging hills going past the entrance to the Kennecott Copper mines to the turnaround. Sprint-distance racers will turn around near the mine entrance and return to the transition area. Olympic-distance racers will continue past the mine entrance into Herriman City on U-111 (which turns into 13100 S.) and will make their turn-around just before 6400 West.

RUN COURSE (5K Sprint / 10K Olympic)

The run course will begin at the transition area and follow the paved trails around Oquirrh Lake. The 3.25 mile loop will be completed once by Sprint-distance racers and twice by Olympic-distance athletes. The run course is flat and smooth and should make for a fast race to the finish. With good sight lines, racers will be able to see the competition and challenge each other to the finish.
