_ 2017 JC Triathlon, Duathlon & Team Relay:
The 2nd annual JC Triathlon: The Great Escape takes athletes from the pool to the historic state penitentiary to the outskirts of the new state prison. Chip timing by Ultramax Sports.
Events will start and finish in the area of the pool at Ellis-Porter Riverside Park Pool. Site accessbile at 5:30am day of event for body marking, transition area placement, late registration and packet pickup. Early packet pickup and late registration Saturday, June 10 at Red Wheel Bike Shop 400 West Main, Jefferson City 1:00pm-4:00pm. Pool warm-up day of event at 6:20am.
Late registration day of event closes at 6:30am day of event. Events:
Sprint Triathlon: Swim 400 Metersm Bike 12 Miles, Run 3.2 Miles
Duathlon: Bike 12 Miles, Run 3.2 Miles
Team Relay: 2 or 3 person team completes one or more legs of the Sprint Triathlon
Age Divisions: 15-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-64, 65 and over.
Awards: Event awards presented to the overall male and female finisher and teh top three male and female finisher in each age group. Awards for Duathlon and Duathlon to the top three finishers in the event.
Swim: 400 Meter pool snake swim across 4 - 50 Meter lanes.
Bike: 12 Mile bike is eastward of pool for 6 Miles and returning to pool on public roads.
Run: Run is westward from pool on paved park paths. Runners merge onto paved City Greenway and then onto City streets to Historic Missouri State Prison and Federal Courthouse returning to pool/transition area.
How to get to the Event: If you are using a GPS system use this address: Ellis Porter Riverside Park, 320 Ellis Porter Drive, Jefferson City, Mo. 65101. NOTE: I would recommend that you NOT use Mapquest as it routinely will send you to Ellis Blvd and several miles from your designation. Google maps and Apple Maps seem to get it right.
In general, from the West on Highway 50 or coming from the South or North into Jefferson City on 63 or 54, take Highway 50 East to the Eastland Dr. Exit. At the end of the ramp turn left. Follow Eastland to East McCarty. Turn left heading westward (toward the Capitol) on East McCarty. Turn Right onto Grant. Grant will take you directly to the pool.
In general, from the East on Highway 50, take the Eastland Dr., Exit. At the end of the ramp turn right. Follow Eastland to East McCarty. Turn left heading westward (toward the Capitol) on East McCarty. Turn Right onto Grant. Grant will take you directly to the pool.
