 _ 2017 IronMan Boulder 140.6 Triathlon:

Nestled at the foot of the imposing Flatirons, Boulder, Colorado is already a wildly popular home-base and vacation destination for triathletes. The city's health-conscious culture, near-perfect weather and breathtaking natural environment made it an instant favorite when it debuted last year.

Boulder's robust downtown, with its famous pedestrian-only Pearl Street Mall and idyllic Boulder Creek, will provide families and fans an unforgettable race day as they wait for their loved ones to cross the finish line. From five-star hotels to James Beard award-winning restaurants, Boulder's hotel and dining options are some of the best in the nation.

Once finished in the water, the first transition will start the athletes on a beautiful multi-loop course all contained in Boulder County. The course has a few pronounced climbs in it, but in general it plays out very fast. Once done with the two 40+ mile loops you will do the final 85-112 miles on an additional loop and roll into Downtown Boulder for the second transition at Boulder High School.

The two-loop run course is almost entirely on Boulder Creek Trail, winding along the creek and through city parks. Spectators will have multiple opportunities to cheer on the athletes and the last few steps of the day will take athletes up Pearl Street for a triumphant finish.

Course Information:

The 2.4-mile swim at the Boulder Reservoir will have water temps in the 70’s. The traditionally smooth lake will launch you on your day. The one-loop course will travel north first along the reservoir dam and will head west and then south. The first of two transitions will also be at the Boulder Reservoir.

The 112 Mile multi-loop course is entirely within Boulder County and features amazing mountain views with some of the same roads trained on by many of our local world champion triathletes. The course has a handful of decent climbs but has a lot of fast and flat sections to keep you moving.

This is a two loop course with 3 out and backs on each loop. We call it the "Flux Capacitor”. This course features everything about Boulder we love. A well shaded bike path and plenty of spectator viewing points for your family and friends. There will be aid stations approximately at every mile.
