_ 2016 Black Moshannon Monster Hunt Race:
The Monster Hunt Race is a 5K adventure scavenger race or hike. The course is not revealed. Participants complete an activity then receive a clue to find the next station. Participants will get wet and muddy during this race. There is a mud pit in the obstacle and once that is complete, it is time for the finish at the slip and slide. An archery station is also featured during this race. Awards will be given for the race but not for the hike. Best costume awards will also be given.
All proceeds from the race will benefit Leslie Mersinger of Milheim. She was diagnosed in 2015 with colon cancer, and has since had surgery and chemotherapy. Due to the side effects of chemo, she is not working her regular job. She is a single mother of three boys.
Early bird registration is $20 per person. Day-of registrations are $25. Shirts are not guaranteed after September 12, so sign up early! Refunds will not be given. This race will be held rain or shine.
Course Information:
The course is not revealed. Participants must figure out the course by clues they are given after completing activities.
The course will take place on state park trails, a dirt road, and crossing paved roads. This year's course does include an incline on the trail. Sturdy shoes are recommended as one of the trails does have some rocks.
