Triathlon : Jug Bay Eco Tri Sprint Triathlon |
Join us for the first ever Jug Bay Eco Tri Sprint Triathlon! This promises to be a great event with kayaking, running and biking.
Kayak a one mile, out and back course on the Patuxent River, then run 4.6 miles on the beautiful off-road trails of Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary and Glendening Nature Preserve, before transitioning to your bike to ride 12 scenic miles of winding roads and rolling hills in Lothian, Maryland.
Kayaks and PFD's (personal flotation devices) will be provided for your use and participants will start in waves in order to minimize congestion on the water.
Register as an individual or gather some friends and register as a team with one person doing each leg of the race.
Event details and schedule
The race will begin at 7am on September 4th. Packet pick up, bike racking and transition area staging will begin at 6am.
There will be two separate transition areas - transition #1 will be from kayak to run and will take place on the Railroad Bed Trail near the River Pier where the kayak launch and return will be. We will provide a bag for any items removed after the kayak before starting the run. Those bags will be labeled at packet pick up and will be brought up to transition #2 after transition #1 has closed. Transition #2 will be near the main visitor parking lot at the Sanctuary - this will be from run to bike. There will be labeled areas for bike racking.
Parking: Please note that parking will be available at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary, but the road into and out of the Sanctuary will be closed to all traffic once the race starts and throughout the entire event. If you will need to leave before the event is over please drop off your equipment and then park at The Plummer House at Glendening Nature Preserve - 5702 Plummer Lane, Lothian, 20711.
