Participants can compete as an individual or as a team. All members of the team need to complete each leg. Racers will have a 2.2 mile run, 5 mile bicycle ride, and a 1 mile paddle leaving and returning from the beach. There are hills to climb and gravel roads. Participants are to bring all their own equipment and the course is appropriate for ages 9 and up.
Funds raised by this event will directly benefit Active SWV Community Captain programs in Nicholas, Fayette, Raleigh, and Summers Counties. Community Captain volunteers are seeing the benefits of increased physical and mental health through weekly group activities. Active SWV facilitates the volunteers training needed to confidently lead friends, family, and neighbors into a lifestyle of physical activity.
Additional donations can be made, sponsors can still contribute, and volunteers are needed for transition stations along the route. All of these efforts provide opportunity for improving health in southern West Virginia. Contact the Active SWV office at (304) 254-8488 or [email protected]
