- NO EQUIPMENT will be transported to or from transition points by race staff. Each participant and  or team members are required to drop-off equipment prior to race start and pick-up all equipment after race from each of two transition points (Bike-to-kayak and Kayak-to-run).

- EVERY PIECE of your equipment must be tagged with your BIB NUMBER. Tags will be provided at check-in. Participants or their own support crew will be required to show their bibs to claim equipment left at transition points. All equipment will be guarded by transition point race staff.

_ Kayak equipment and running gear drop-off will be accepted starting at 6:30 AM on race day at both transition points. See map below for directions. REMEMBER, BIB NUMBERS MUST BE ATTACHED to all equipment being dropped off, but only if you expect to ever see it again!

_ Participants are required to pick up bikes and kayaks from transition points by 3:00 PM. Anticipated race duration times are between 2.5 hours and 5 hours in length. All gear not claimed by 3 PM maybe posted on E-Bay that evening (joking)!

COURSE RULES:

-BIKES: Suspension bikes are recommended. If unsure of ability to ride terrain, walk your bike. Helmets are required and must be buckled. Watch for ruts, loose gravel, wildlife, 4-wheeler support crews, and other vehicles on roads. Watch for blind curves. Be sure to understand proper braking techniques for downhill mountain biking. Notify other participants as you pass stating loudly, "On your Right" or "On your Left" before attempting to pass.

- KAYAKS: Flat water, sea / lake kayaks highly recommended. Life jackets are required and must be secured prior to entering water at transition point. Be prepared for wind and / or cool weather. Keep a safe distance from other boats and kayaks on race course. Stay at least 2 boat lengths from other participants to avoid collision or roll over. In the event of a roll over, participants must be able to self-eject themselves from kayaks. If a "swim" occurs, STAY with kayak and await rescue from race staff.

-RUN: Run is mostly cross-country, on dirt and gravel trail. Be aware of obstacles, loose rocks, and potholes. Watch for traffic and be aware of street crossings.  Smile and wave to passing motorists.

-TEAMS: Teams will start 15 minutes after the individuals start at 8:00 AM. Transportation for team members to transition points WILL NOT be provided. Some parking is available at transition points.

Plan accordingly for necessary shuttling of vehicles (and keys!). At transition points, hand-tag your teammate prior to their departure. Kayak team members should be at the bike-to-kayak transition point no later than 9:15 AM because advanced bikers can be expected to be at kayak transition by 9:30. Kayak portion should take between 45 min to 1 1/2 hours depending on team members' speed. Be sure to coordinate anticipated completion times with your team members! Kayak and running team members may go directly to transition point to drop off team gear or get in position after the 8:00 AM race start. Remember, access will be closed at 9:15 AM to bike-to-kayak transition to make way for incoming bikers.

FINISH/ AWARDS:

Runners will finish at Rathdrum City Park, entering a finish chute, crossing the arched wooden foot bridge, and crossing the finish line. Awards will commence at 11 am for Short Course and 1 pm for Long Course.  Individual and Team Awards will run three deep in their appropriate categories, with all finishers receiving a finishers medal.  Race results will be posted in the park as is possible.
