Join us on Saturday, August 6th at 5pm for the third annual Polish Moon Ride and Block Party. A family-friendly bike tour through Milwaukee's Historic Polish neighborhoods that also celebrates the current Latino culture there. Listen for our Polish Moon Ride spots on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, and when you hear one, call the DJ and request a Milwaukee Polka!
To set our ride apart from the hundreds of other great rides around the state, it starts at night under the always-full Polish Moon (the Rockwell Clock Tower) in Walker’s Point where local vendors will have tasty tacos, polish sausage even ice cream. The block party starts runs from 5pm to 7pm so you can grab some dinner before the ride. To get you fired up, we will have live music from MX Rugido Norteño. The ride leaves at 7pm with live polka music played on the ride from the back of Xtracycle Edgerunners from Coast Inn Bikes! We will return to the start location for more polka and beer from Milwaukee Brewing Company. Check out our fun Polish Moon Ride Facebook Event Page, which has interesting quizzes about the history of the area and updates on the ride.
Bike Fed members should watch their email inbox for a coupon code to get the member discount on registration. Not a member? Join now or take advantage of our discounted Polish Moon Ride Registration and Membership bundle on the registration page. Be sure to Like the Polish Moon Facebook Event Page so you can stay updated on the event, Polish Moon "training rides" to visit sponsors like the Purple Door Ice Cream or the Wednesday night Polka Jam at Kochanski's Concertina Beer Hall and fun trivia about Milwaukee's south side.
The ride itself is a slow, police-led, 11 mile parade-style ride through the historic Polish neighborhoods on Milwaukee’s near south side. There will be no stops, and this is not a pub crawl, but never fear, the ride returns to 2nd and Bruce for a block party featuring more live music and beverage offerings nearby from Annodyne Coffee, Central Standard Craft Distillery, and Milwaukee Brewing Company.
Be sure to show up early enough to eat dinner though, because beginning at 6pm we will close the street and start the block party where Ben’s Cycle and Fitness/Milwaukee Bicycle Company will be grilling Klements sausage, Wayward Kitchen and Bar will be serving up delicious and creative tacos and Purple Door Ice Cream will be scooping up their fabulous ice cream. With ice cream, food, soda and a short, slow ride, this will be a family friendly ride and we encourage you to bring the kids to close out their summer vacation with a unique chance for them to ride safely on city streets.
After the ride gets back, the polka will kick into high gear on the stage inside Anodyne with the Polish Moon Polka Trio!
The party will end around 11:00pm, and there are rumors of a post party ride to Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall to keep the Polka Power going.
