Welcome to our 2nd Annual Remember the Fallen 5k!! The 5K run/walk race will be held on May 21st, 2016 at the Riverdale Park, 2000 E 24th Street, Sioux Falls, SD and is hosted by the South Dakota Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1. This event is a way to remember those Law Enforcement Officers who have lost their lives serving their communities as well to say thank you for those who continue to protect our communities every day!
This year's event will come at the end of National Police Week. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
The run will begin as a shotgun start and we will be running the scenic Sioux Falls Bike Trail on an out and back course. The event is for beginners and experienced runners alike. All runners will receive an event t-shirt with their registration.
