2016 Get in Gear 10K, 5K, 2K & Half Marathon:
Don't miss the 39th Annual Rite of Spring Get in Gear events! Friday, April 29 is Last Day registration, bib number pickup and the 2K Fun Run starting at 6:00 PM. Saturday, April 30 is Race Day. The 10K and Half Marathon start at 9:00 AM. The 5K starts at 9:20 AM. Get in Gear events have something for everyone...quality shirts, medallions, awards, food, corporate and school competitions and many special awards just for participating. Second Harvest Heartland is our primary charitable partner. Feel free to bring a donation of non-perishable food on Friday or Saturday. Monetary donations are welcomed as well.
Course Information:
10K Course Description - Start on West River Parkway. North on West River Parkway to Lake Street Bridge. East across Bridge into St. Paul. South on East Mississippi River Blvd. to Ford Bridge. West to cross Ford Bridge into Minneapolis. Finish line on Godfrey Road adjacent to Minnehaha Park.
Water will be available midway. Time splits will be given at each mile. Note: All run and walk participants will be expected to have completed the course by 11:30am when the roads are scheduled to re-open.
5K Course Description - Start on West River Parkway just northeast of the 46th St overpass, running northeast. Turn left (west) briefly on 42nd St, then immediately right (north) onto Edmund Blvd. Turn left (west) onto 38th St, then turn right (north) onto 47th Ave, then right (east) onto 37th Ave, then right again (southeast) onto Edmund Blvd. At 38th St turn left (east) briefly, then immediately right (south) onto West River Parkway. Continue under the 46th St overpass and past 46th Ave, where West River Parkway becomes Godfrey Parkway, and finish on Godfrey Parkway in Minnehaha Park.
Directions:
Parking Notice - VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE! There is NO PARKING allowed at Minnehaha Park on event morning. Vehicles are subject to being ticketed if parked in a "no parking area."
BE EARLY!!! Traffic can, and will be, congested in and around the VAMC and Minnehaha Park the morning of the Get in Gear events.
Bus Shuttle runs continuously from the VAMC to Minnehaha Park pavilion in a continuous loop from 54th St. to South Minnehaha Ave. and North to the “new” bus drop and pick-up area at the back of the pavilion. Riders will take a short walk across the falls to the Pavilion. You will find restrooms inside the pavilion (but also we have 47 porta-potties on the venue for your use) and the Information Tent and Volunteer Check-In Tent will be on the immediate north side of the Pavilion.
FREE Shuttle: 6:45a.m. start to 12:30pm or when buses are no longer needed. This will be determined by our bus coordinator on race day. Get in Gear is providing a FREE shuttle service which will begin at the VAMC (Veterans Affairs Medical Center web site or Veterans Affairs Medical Center web site map).
The VAMC is located approximately one mile south of Minnehaha Park on Minnehaha Avenue (Junction of Hwy. 55 & 62).
