Rich in Beauty, Rich in Tradition!
Hagg Lake Triathlon became one of six stops on the Bud Light Triathlon Series Tour 34 years ago and drew about 500 athletes, with Dave Scott coming out on top. Today, as one of the nation’s oldest and longest running triathlon events, Hagg Lake enters its 34th year and continues to draw upwards of 600+ athletes each July. Its popularity is rooted in this rich tradition and the exceptional venue, which is one of the most scenic in the country. The Hagg Lake course offers a true test of this terrific sport with its rolling hills on both the bike and run leg portions of the event. Make the Hagg Lake Triathlon one of your summer stops and compete on the course that has seen many of the greats in the sport of triathlon!
Olympic Triathlon - 1500k Swim / 40k bike / 10k Run - The Hagg Lake course is famous for its race history, scenic beauty, and challenge. The swim is a two counter clockwise laps, 1500 meter triangular with water temperatures in the mid 70’s. The bike course is challenging with rolling hills. Cyclists will complete two counter-clockwise loops around the lake. Both loops will include a two mile out and back section on Scoggins Valley Road. The 10K mile run is also scenic and challenging, with an out and back course clockwise along the lake side road.
Olympic Duathlon - 5k Run / 40k Bike / 10K Run - Olympic Duathlon participants will begin with an out and back 5k run. They will complete the same 2 bike loops that the Olympic Triathletes complete. The final 10K run will take place on the same out and back course as the Olympic Tri.
Olympic AquaBike - 1.5k Swim / 40K Bike - Same Swim and Bike Course as the Olympic Tri.
Sprint Triathlon - 1/2 mile Swim / 20k Bike / 5k Run - The Sprint course will include a one loop 1/2-mile swim, one complete 20K loop (including one out-and-back on Scoggins Valley Road) on the bike, and a 5k out and back run.
Sprint Duathlon - 5K Run / 20K Bike / 5k Run - Sprint Duathlon participants will begin with a 5k run. They will complete the same bike loop that the Sprint Triathletes complete. The final 5K run will be the same route as the initial 5k.
Sprint AquaBike - 1/2 Mile Swim / 20K Bike - Same Swim and Bike Course as the Sprint Tri.
Aid Stations - Water and electrolyte will be provided at approximately each mile on the run (which will provide two water stops for the 5k distance and five water stops for the 10k distance).
