Breeze Against Wheeze 2016 is the 15th annual 5k run/3k walk organized by Brown University medical and premedical students designed to raise money for Hasbro Children’s Hospital’s Asthma Camp. In the past years, it has strived to raise 25% of the camp’s total costs. The Community Asthma Program proposes that our goal should be to raise $15,000 in order to cover that 25%. The money we raise for this camp allows 30 children with severe asthma to attend regardless of their ability to pay.

Our Mission

RI has the highest asthma rate in our nation, affecting 11% of RI children. The camp that we are raising funds for is open to boys and girls with asthma who are between 9 and 13 years old, and is held at the Canonicus Camp and Conference Center in Exeter, Rhode Island. The camp is designed to provide an opportunity for children with asthma to share ideas, problems, and concerns about asthma. It also provides an opportunity for them to learn how to be active and confident outside of their homes. It provides a positive, unique camp experience for children with asthma. The camp is open to all children in Rhode Island regardless of ability to pay. (Many participants come from disadvantaged backgrounds and have had an invaluable time at the Camp).

Restrooms and drinking fountains are in Nelson Fitness Center

This fast, scenic 5k run goes around Brown University campus and over to Blackstone Blvd.

The 3k walk is a shortened version of the 5k run.
