RUN FOR A CAUSE
The Park to Park Half Marathon and One Miler is a USA Track and Field sactioned event. The flat 13.1 mile run route takes runners through the parks and streets of historic Sulphur, Louisiana.
It all started running for Jimbo. A group of woman runners calling themselves the SPAR Stars were training for half marathon when one of their husbands was diagnosed with cancer. Rather than travelling to run out of town, the SPAR Stars decided to "Run for Jimbo" and raise money for his family locally. The event was supported within the community and is now a fundraiser for other organizations and families.
This year's beneficiary is Sulphur High School's Cross Country Team. SHS Cross Country Team has been volunteering along the route since 2010 providing splits for runners at various miles.
Several distances are offered to accommodate youth through adult, and beginner fitness through elite runners.
