A Splash and Dash is a fun and fast-growing race that combines swimming and running. This short distance youth event is a great chance to try out your speed in two different activities! Welcome to the world of aquathlons and multi-sport racing!
When: Friday, August 12, 2016, 6:00 pm
Where: Wilson Park Pool and Trail
Who: Children ages 7-18
What: This youth event consists of a swim (80-200 yards) followed by a run (1/2 - 1 mile).
Participants will be assigned a starting wave based on age. Waves will start every 10 minutes. Age groups are as follows:
7-8 years old: Swim 80 yards / Run a 1/2 mile
9-10 years old: Swim 120 yards / Run a 1/2 mile
11-12 years old: Swim 160 yards / Run 1 mile
13-15 years old: Swim 200 yards / Run 1 mile
16-18: Swim 200 yards / Run 1 mile
The swim portion will go across the short (20 yard) length of the pool and any stroke can be used. Goggles and swim caps may be used, but are not required. The run portion will utilize the park trails and interior drives. Athletic or water sport shoes must be worn during the run. Race number bibs must be attached to a shirt or shorts and visible for the run portion of the race. Body marking will be used to assist with the swim portion. Finishers will be given an overall time at the event - more detailed results (splits) will be provided at a later date.
