Lace up your running shoes, grab your winter hats and join us for the 4th Annual Chilly Challenge 8K & 1 Mile Fun Run and Chili Cook-off! Runners will enjoy a scenic run and post-race celebration that includes tasty chili, live music and fantastic prizes. Jason Boyer, Chief Meteorologist for WLOS News 13, will serve as the event’s emcee and chip timing will be provided by Super Fly.
This rolling hills course will start and finish on the school campus and is featured as a Grand Prix Race for the Asheville Track Club.The 8K entry fee is $25 for adults and $15 for youth. Registration for the 1 Mile Fun Run is $15. Race registration includes a T-shirt and chili lunch. Spectators may purchase chili at $5 per bowl.
Course Information:
The 8K is on a scenic rolling hill course in Weaverville, NC. The race starts and finishes at N. Buncombe Middle School. The race begins at the back entrance of the school and travels up the hill behind the football stadium. It then follows Dula Springs Road down to N. Buncombe School Road. Runners will have an opportunity to cheer each other on with an out and back on Evening Shade and also with a loop around the North Windy Ridge school campus. The race finishes back at the entrance of North Buncombe Middle School. There are two water stations along the route.
Directions:
Directions: Take US 19N from Asheville. Take Exit 17 (Flat Creek) and go right off the exit. The school will be on the left about 1/2 mile. Parking available at the school.
