The best part of The Great Muddy Escape is getting dirty. If you have tried trail races, mud runs, tough guy fun runs, or a warrior dash, this “escape” is yours to conquer. Packet Pick Up

Exit #118 from Interstate 45. Museum is located off the east side feeder road
Race Day packet pick-up begins at 7:00am.
Packet includes your race bib with safety pins, your chip timer (if running a timed race), your t-shirt and one entry to $500 gift card give-away
Race packets and materials must be picked up on-site. They will not be shipped to participants.
One additional entry to the $500 gift card give-away will be earned for picking up your packet prior to race day
What You Need At Packet Pick-Up

When To Arrive On Race Day

We recommend that you arrive at least one hour before your wave time. Remember that you will have to park, pick up your packet (if you haven’t already done so), attach your bib and chip (if running timed race), and make your way to the starting line.
What You Need At The Race

Appropriate footwear is highly recommended! Note: You will get muddy!
A change of clothes-your choice. Again, you WILL get muddy!
Guts. It takes a lot of nerve to escape from Huntsville.
Spending money for extra drinks, food, entertainment, or sweet Escape gear!
A great attitude!
What To Leave At Home

No REAL convict weapons and/or firearms will be allowed.
No glass containers will be allowed.
No poor attitudes will be allowed… and a clean shaved chin is discouraged!
Convict Fuel

During the race, there will be a water station at the half-way point of the race course.
Water and snacks will be available after you cross the finish line.
NEW for 2015: FREE BBQ sandwiches will be provided to all participants
Party Like A Free Man or Woman

Music, food and fun will begin before the first wave. Just a reminder…this is a family oriented event. We want the kids to have fun too.

Awards

The top 3 male and female finishers in the 5K and 2M races will receive medals fabricated by offenders in the TDCJ prison craft shop. Only the 9:00 am heat in the 5K and 2M races will be timed and eligible for medals. The remaining heats are just for fun.

All runners, timed or not, will receive souvenir award bracelets for each obstacle completed. The timed runners must complete all obstacles and collect all bracelets in order to medal in the timed events.

All participants will receive a Finisher award as a token of your Muddy Escape!

The awards ceremony will take place one hour after the last wave of the day recognizing the day’s:

Top 3 overall male and female participants for 5K and 2 mile courses
Best overall adult and child costume and best group costume
Largest and fastest (5K and 2M) team
*You must be present during the awards ceremony to receive an award and to win the $500 gift card. The awards or gift card will not be mailed post-race. Family 1 mile course will not be timed.

Race Photos - Photographers will be on-site the day of the race taking pictures of all the escape efforts.
