The Tour de Bland is an annual road cycling ride and 5k run to support the fundraising efforts for the Relay For Life in Bland County, VA. It has 15, 37, 73, 100 mile ride or 5k run options. The entire event is hosted by employees and friends of ABB's Dry-type Transformer factory located just a few blocks from the starting line. Our focus is on the enjoyment of everyone who participates in the event. We aim to make it fun and rewarding to support those who are supporting us. We are in our 4th year and want to go BIG! We hope to double our participation to expand our support to more charities in the area. We can't do it without people like you. So sign up now!
Course Information:
All courses are on paved road. The 37 ride climbs 1 mountain, the 73 climbs 3, and the 100 climbs 4 for a total of 7000' elevation gain. The 5k run is a closed, out and back cource. All the bike rides are on public highways throughout the county.
Directions:
Take Exit 52 on I77 in Southwest Virginia and follow the signs to downtown Bland. The starting line is only 1.5 miles from the exit and right next the the county court house right in the middle of town.
Other Info:
The ride is held on every 2nd Saturday in October. This is aligned with Bland County's annual Festival of Leaves; a festival of food, fun, and music to celebrating the beauty of the changing seasons of the Blue Ridge Mountains. So some get your exercise in and then head over to the festival to rebuild some energy!
