2015 St. Francis Trail Run and Walk
The St. Francis Trail Run and Walk takes place in the Ocala National Forest right on the Lake and Volusia County borders. The community of St. Francis which was a thriving river port in the late 1800s, as steamboats worked their way from Jacksonville upriver along the St. Johns to Sanford. Here, they'd stop to exchange household goods for citrus and timber. The town faded away after river traffic vanished in the wake of railroads for commerce.
Course Information:
The St. Francis Trail lets you take a 7.5 mile run through floodplain forests and pine flatwoods in search of the past. We will also have a shorter 5K option for those who want to experience this hidden gem of history.
