Front Runners New York's 13th Annual XC Meet : Off Road |
Running : Run 3.1 Miles |
Come out to represent your club at FRNY’s 13th Annual 5K Cross-Country Meet; and If you don’t have a club, then come experience fall in Van Cortlandt Park!
Front Runners New York (FRNY) has been an active running and multi-sport club for LGBT and LGBT-friendly athletes for more than 30 years. We run throughout the five boroughs and particularly in Central Park. We encourage runners of all backgrounds and abilities to join the club and experience the vast social, fitness, and training benefits of membership.
Course: The Front Runners New York Cross Country Meet will take place on the legendary 5K cross country course at Van Cortlandt Park. Starting in front of the tortoise and hare statue, the course proceeds south on the parade grounds and turns left onto the “flats.” Runners make their way around the white “tortoise and hare” signs towards the cowpath, up cemetery hill and over the runners bridge into the back woods where they will follow the trail back to the parade grounds and finish just past the starting line. The course is technical, with roots, rocks, and steep hills. There may be muddy areas depending on weather.
Cost: Online registration will be $22
Amenities & Awards: The raffle prizes are sponsored by Kiehl’s and Brooklyn Running Co. In addition, Brooklyn Running Co. will be supplying gift cards to the top 3 men and women. After the meet, all participants are invited to a brunch hosted by FRNY member Ed Kennelly and Arturo Reyes.
For the first time we will have a giveaway, instead of adding another race shirt to your collection, we will have custom made FRNY Sunglasses, to be given to the first 100 people to pick up their race bibs on race day, so get there early!
Medals will go to the top 3 finishers in each 10 year age group and there will be bag check for all.
Transportation: Take the 1 train to 242nd Street/Van Cortlandt Park. Walk north on Broadway to the Tortoise and Hare statue. Please check MTA Trip Planner for up to date and detailed mass transit directions and Google Maps for driving directions. Parking is limited, we strongly encourage you to use mass transit.
