Stearns Race Timing presents the 7th annual Gearhead Sprint Triathlon at craighead forest park in Jonesboro Arkansas. Jonesboro is located about an hour west of Memphis TN, and 90 minutes Northeast of Little Rock. The Gearhead Sprint Triathlon is USA Triathlon Sanctioned Event. We feel we have one of the best short course triathlons in the south. We are very beginner friendly and put on a super race.
Course Information:
Swim Start will be a time trial start with 5 second intervals. We will allow any competitor to move forward or back further in line before the swim start to swim where they are more comfortable. The Swim will start at the Craighead Forest Beach Area. Swim out to the left back to the boat ramp for T1. The bike ride is clockwise around the park to the park exit. We have found the best rolling hills around beautiful Crowley's Ridge. Don't let the 10.2 mile deceive you. this is the hardest 10 miles you will every race. bike ride returns to the park and bike clockwise to T2. Leave T2 and run clockwise around the park and finish in front of the beach. Maps of the transition area, swim, bike and run are posted at www.stearnsracetiming.com
Directions:
From Memphis; Take I-55 Take Exit 23 US 63 towards Jonesboro. Take Exit 44 Harrisburg Road @ stop sign, turn left – go over the over pass. @ Signal light turn right on to Parker Rd. @ next signal light (Culberhouse road) turn left. Approximately 2 miles on Culberhouse Rd. the entrance to the park will be on your left. Follow Signs.
From Little Rock; Take US 67 north. Take exit 80 (AR 14) to Waldenburg @Stop sign – turn left on to Hwy 49 North. After Countrymart, turn right at signal light onto Parker Rd. @ next signal light (Culberhouse road) turn right Approximately 2 miles on Culberhouse Rd. the entrance to the park will be on your left.
