XTERRA Tri the Torture : Off Road |
Triathlon : Swim 800 Yards, Mountain Bike 16 Miles, Trail Run 4 Miles |
As the only XTERRA race in New Mexico for the South Central region, this is a
chance to test skill, stamina, strength but also enjoy the cool mountains and easy
accommodations at Glorieta Camps where you can choose between hotel-style
rooms, camping, primitive cabins, and an RV camp, all great values.
Glorieta Camps are located a quick drive (15 minutes) northeast of Santa
Fe on I25. [email protected] or (505) 757.6161
The XTERRA Tri the Torture begins with a 880 yard swim in the
camp's central pond, easy to find because a massive water slide sits in
its midst. Then comes a 16 mile mountain bike torture fest with a cumulative
3000 ft. climb into the Santa Fe National Forest and a chance to ride the very
tail end of the mighty Rocky Mountains. The course includes single track, a jeep
road, and a free ride feature. A 4 mile run follows through the ponderosa forest. To cap
off the Tri, contestants are encouraged tri an optional splash from the 30 foot tall
water slide. (If splashing isn't your style, a minuscule penalty will be added to your time.)
Glorieta Camps is located in the Sangre de Cristo mountain range of the Southern Rockies right off of I-25, 15 minutes northeast of Santa Fe.
