In 1926, the first organized competitive swim between Vashon Island and Point Defiance in Tacoma,WA was held across approximately two miles of open water, following the ferry route used today. Now we are making it possible to repeat this historic feat!
Gift for a Child is proud to announce the sixth annual AquaRun for a Child taking place at Commencement Bay in Tacoma, Washington and continuing to offer three (3) different events; Aquathlon Short/Intermediate, Swim Only, and 5K Run.
Course Information:
AquaRun Short & Relay: 3K Swim & 5K Run
AquaRun Intermediate & Relay: 5K Swim & 5K Run
Swim Only: 3K or 5K
Run Only: 5K
5K swim is triangular course across Dalco Passage twice. 3K swim is one-way swim after Ferry ride to start. 5 K run is 2 short out and back loops to finish near beach & swim finish
Other Info:
Wetsuits required (unless previously waived by Safety committee/application required). Swim Safer Type Buoy highly recommended. This is NOT a swim for beginners. Water temsp expected 54-60 degrees F.
