2015 Jacksonville Marine Corps Half Marathon & 5K:
The city of Jacksonville has been voted one of the top ten running cities in the nation by Runners World magazine. Volunteers from the Marine Corps community with support from the corporate and civic community will again present this prestigious event.
Following in the traditions set by the internationally respected Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., Jacksonville is the home to the annual Jacksonville Marine Corps 12 Marathon and Freedom 5K.
Course Information:
The Jacksonville Marine Corps 1/2 Marathon and Freedom 5K starts at the Metropolitan Park main entrance near the Jaguars Everbank Stadium, crossing the river, then winds down through beautiful, historic Riverside Boone Park, and returning across the river to finish under crossed howitzers at Metropolitan Park on the St. Johns River.
Taking a city tour on foot is a terrific way to see the city.
An estimated 30,000 spectators watch or volunteer for the race.
At race end, uniformed Marines greet runners and present them with a medal of achievement, and then all runners are treated to a giant party with food, drink, live music, and massage.
