Happy 4th of July!  We have joined the Lights Over Morse 4th of July Celebration again in 2015 to bring you a 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, July 4th!  The Get Off Your Can 5K benefits the Sacred Heart of Jesus Food Pantry, which help to put food on the table of those in need right here in Hamilton County. There's going to be ton of stuff to do as part of the Lights Over Morse 4th of July Celebration!  Come for the 5K, stay for the parade, the fun, the festivities, and the fireworks!

Registration Schedule:
$20 Early bird registration until May 31

Packet Pickup: 
Packet pickup will take place in Cicero on Friday, July 3th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please make all efforts to pick up your packet at this time. Email will be sent when packet pickup details are finalized.

Race Day: 
We will be on site by 6:00am for packet and chip pickup as well as race day registration. To ensure we can start the race on time, please plan to be on site at least an hour prior to race to pick up your timing chip. Please note, we may not be able to allow registrations within 45 minutes of the race starting, or check in within 30 minutes of the race start. Check-in will  be at the blue tent near the finish line.

Parking: 
The park has ample parking available.  Should the parking become full, you will be directed where to park. Please do not hesitate to email [email protected] if you have any questions, concerns, or are celebrating a special day with us.

About Sacred Heart of Jesus Food Pantry:  
Hunger in Hamilton County, the most affluent county in Indiana, is a reality. Long recognized as central Indiana’s booming center of new wealth and growth, Hamilton County is also facing great needs. With more households facing job layoffs, looming mortgage payments and drained savings accounts, poverty has increased by 67 percent. Many residents struggle to keep food in their pantries and on their tables. Over the last few years, food pantries have been doubling, tripling and in some cases quadrupling their services.

Hamilton County has the second highest number of people facing food insecurity in central Indiana, second only to Marion County. Poverty rose in the county by 67 percent from 2006 to 2009, and poverty is closely associated with hunger. In 2009, 7 percent of Hamilton County’s children lived in poverty; in 2011, just under 16 percent of students received free or reduced-price lunches. Combine those numbers with complicated financial challenges for families who may be facing a combination of layoffs, upside-down mortgages and accumulated debt, and a diverse mix of needs emerges. The existing food pantry network and the mobile food pantry serve many first-time clients who never expected to need emergency food assistance. The Sacred Heart of Jesus Food Pantry, the Parish Food Pantry Program, is one of the charitable programs of Sacred Heart of Jesus. The purpose of this program is to give food assistance to low-income families. There are many ways to volunteer for this program: preparing food boxes, stocking pantry shelves, donating food, and helping with the distribution — these are just a few examples.
