The Battlegrounds Summer Splash : Off Road |
Obstacle/Mud Runs : Adventure Run With Mud & Obstacles |
Mud Run Guide, the world's largest website for obstacle and adventure events, will hold its first annual "Summer Splash" at The Battlegrounds, which is St. Louis' largest permanent mud run obstacle course.
Deemed the "lollapalooza of mud runs", the day will include three 5k fun run waves:
* an Obstacle Course Racing World Championships' qualifying wave for those 13 years of age and older at 8:30 a.m. where the top 25 men and women will be allowed to participate at the October 17 and 18 world championships in Ohio;
* an open adult wave for those 18 years of age and older beginning at 9 a.m., and;
* a family-friendly wave for those eight years of age and older starting at 10 a.m. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the course, and those 12 and under must have their own life jacket to wear on water-related obstacles.
This is the first time in The Battlegrounds' history that racers under 18 years old are allowed to experience the course, which features more than 30 military-themed obstacles for those who want to test their physical and mental abilities.
Other activities include a family foam fest fun area for all ages from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. An obstacle challenge at the Gauntlet, which consists of six lanes of varying difficulties situated over an eight-foot deep water pit, will take place at noon. The event will feature live music, as well as contests for best mud run costumes and additional obstacle challenges. There will be on-course wine tasting for those 21 years of age and older.
The Battlegrounds has plenty of amenities including free parking and gear check, as well as on-site showers for mud run participants. The race has walkable access to the adjacent Cedar Lake Cellars winery for those 21 years of age and older.
