The Rum Doodle Racing and TRI TO FINISH are partnering up with the Michigan Tap Room to bring our Great Lakes Bay Area the “Dive and Dash”; a fun 1-lap 750 Meter Swim, or 2-Lap 1500 Meter swim in the Willaim H. Haithco lake, followed by a 5k run within the park.
Get this! The Dive and Dash will be offered in a Series format for those interested. The race will take place at the same time and at the same location on a Thursday in the months of June, July and August. By having the event on a Thursday evening, participants can come out for a fun event with like-minded participants that won’t interfere with their weekend race schedules!
It gets better! The Michigan Tap Room at Stardust Lanes is providing awesome howlers and growlers for series event prizes, and will be hosting our post-race celebrations after each event! The Michigan Tap Room will also be offering $10 gift certificates for $5 when registering for the Dive and Dash online. Gift certificates will be limited to 1 per registrant and are good toward the purchase of food or drinks at the Tap Room through the weekend following each event. We highly encourage all participants to partake in the discount offer and to join us at this gem of restaurant that is very close to Haithco Park!
In a bit of a twist for swimmers, a time bonus will be awarded to those swimming without a wetsuit! Participants in the 1,500 meter long swim course without a wetsuit will receive 1 minute and 30 seconds off their swim time. Those participating in the 750 meter short swim course without a wetsuit will receive 45 seconds deducted from their swim time.
The entire event will take place within the confines of Haithco Park after normal operating hours. We’ll have the park to ourselves!
The course will be made up of a 750m, three buoy triangle swim in clean and clear Haithco Lake. Athletes will complete 1 lap for the 750m/5k race and 2 laps for the 1500m/5k race. All participants will begin the race while treading water.
The run will be an out and back 5k along the edge of Haithco Lake. The terrain is mixed/trail.
