12th annual TAM Trek - September 20, 2015
18-mile and 6-mile timed runs, 2 mile family fun run/walk
Race day registration will be available. Participation in the 18-mile event is capped at 100 runners so sign up soon to secure your bib!
All distances start and finish at Wright Park in Middlebury, Vermont. The 6-mile course is entirely on single-track trail through Wright Park and the Gorge Loop with around 400 feet of elevation gain and several slightly technical sections.
The 18-mile course starts at Wright Park and follows the entire 18-mile TAM route around Middlebury, ending at Wright Park. This challenging loop gains and loses over 1,000 feet in elevation over single- and double-track with several technical sections and some short road sections to connect between trails. There will not be traffic control at road crossings, so runners must use caution when traversing road sections and are encouraged to run against traffic or on sidewalks where available (pavement sections total less than 3 miles). This route includes all of the best aspects of trail running in Vermont: from sweeping vistas of the Champlain Valley and Green Mountains to broad fields with iconic Vermont farmland and stretches of evergreen and hardwood forests. The course will be very well-marked and easy to follow, with several aid stations stocked with various products and supplies.
Wright Park will be open throughout the event and all participants are encouraged to stay after the run to enjoy refreshments, music and beverages from one of Middlebury's “Tasting Trail” producers. Generous prizes from local sponsors will be awarded to the male and female overall winners of the 18- and 6-mile races.
All proceeds from the Annual TAM Trek directly support maintenance of the TAM (Trail Around Middlebury). Your entry helps ensure that this local gem remains well-maintained and available for public use year-round. The Trek is not only a fund-raising event: everyone is encouraged to come show support for participants and to celebrate Middlebury's “Emerald Necklace.”
