The 10K Run for Healthy Kids brings back the Newark City Classic with the purpose of raising funds to support health initiatives that will promote healthy life habits for children and combat childhood obesity. The event includes a USAT&F sanctioned and certified 10K course.
A 3K Run/Walk for Adults & children ages 12 and under, including registration discounts for children under 12.
Fun Run will include free activities for the entire family. Children will enjoy a Fun Run around military park, and a passport of activities to include Healthy eating tips, Healthy lifestyle educational materials and healthy snacks. An adult must register each child attending (1 registered adult per 2 children)
All running events will start and finish at newly redesigned and upgraded Military Park in Downtown Newark. The Park is directly across from the future headquarters of Prudential and adjacent to NJPAC. The course route includes the campuses of Rutgers, NJIT and Essex County College and passes City Hall, The Prudential Center (The Rock), and the historic Essex County Courthouse. The course minimizes turns and narrow streets. Participants are allowed two hours to complete the 10K run.
