On March 1, Heartland Endurance Sports, students from Noblesville High School’s Innovations class, Aiden’s family and friends are united to host a chip-timed 5K race benefiting Aiden's Breath.

$20 for 5K, $15 for 2.5K until 2/2
$25 for 5K, $20 for 2.5K until 2/22
$23 for 5K, $25 for 2.5K until 2/26

Packet Pickup: Packet pickup will take place in Noblesville on Thursday, February 26, 2015, from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM. Please make all efforts to pick up your packet at this time. An email with packet pickup directions/location will be sent when plans for this are finalized.

Race Day: We will be onsite by 7:00am for packet and chip pickup, as well as race day registration. To ensure we can start the race on time, please plan to be onsite at least an hour prior to race to pick up your timing chip. Please note, we may not be able to allow registrations within 45 minutes of the race starting, or check in within 30 minutes of the race start. Check-in will be at the blue tent near the finish line.
Parking: The park has parking available. Should the parking become full, you will be directed where to park.

About Aiden: Aiden was in a car accident on January 24, 2010. He was only 13 months old and had just started walking 2 weeks prior to the accident. Aiden was with his biological mother and her friend at the time of the accident. His biological mother and her friend went to a lake and decided to huff from cans of computer cleaner. They also were under the influence of several different types of prescription and non-prescription narcotics. They decided to drive and they both passed out causing the car to hit a concrete barrier. Aiden was not properly restrained his car seat and when the car hit the barrier it caused Aiden to fly forward in his car seat and jerk back. Aiden needed CPR and to be intubated (a tube placed in his mouth and down his throat) to help him breathe. The paramedics, doctors and nurses worked on Aiden for an hour to revive him. Aiden was transferred from to several hospitals so they could better care for him. He eventually made it to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where they figured out that he had Occiptical Dislocation (also known as internal decapitation).

He required surgery to reattach skull to his spinal column. He also required a trach and continued to be on full life support and medication to keep him sedated. He was then stable enough and was moved to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

I received a phone call from the agency that we are foster parents and they asked me if we would be interested in taking Aiden into our home. They explained to me all of his medical needs that they were aware of. I said of coarse we will and when can we meet him. The very next day we were scheduled to meet Aiden at Riley so I could see exactly what kind of issues we were going to be dealing with. The case manager had explained to me what happened to Aiden and that the plan would be to eventually get Aiden well enough to go back home to his parents. However they also told me that the biological mother was the cause of the accident so it would be unlikely that he would return home to her. They would eventually look for a family member that would be willing to take him, however, the chances of that was slim because none of them were stable/capable enough or could even pass background checks to take him. So we knew that Aiden would be placed with us long term. When we meet Aiden for the fist time, my heart just melted and I fell in love right away. Already in love with him just like I fell in love with my biological children.

Aiden now has several health conditions, including respiratory failure (ventilator), spastic quadriplegic (paralized from neck down), neurogenic bowel and bladder (requires assistance for bathroom needs), and several other medical issues. This run benefits Aiden and his family's dedication options to improve his health. Intensive therapy is expensive, as is the equipment neccessary to help Aiden. Hopefully, with Aiden's continued hard work, he will recover and will be able to get up and run with all the other children.
