The New Mexico Kids Tri is the largest kids triathlon in New Mexico and it is the only kids triathlon that is 100% focused on children.
The event offers categories for the littlest of triathletes up to competitive juniors. In 2014, over 115 children raced through the finish line.
The event is a traditional swim, bike run format. It occurs at the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center. Children can move up or down a category based on their ability.
Every child receives a Kids Tri t-shirt, a finishers medal, and ice cream at the finish.

Course Information:
3-5 year olds:
- Swim: 25 yards (one pool length. Parents can swim with their child. Kick boards permitted.)
- Bike: 1 lap around the aquatic center parking lot
- Run: 1 lap run around the aquatic center parking lot
6-9 year olds:
- Swim: 50 yards (two pool lengths. Kick boards permitted.)
- Bike: 1 mile
- Run: 0.5 mile
10-12 year olds:
- Swim: 100 yards (two pool laps; 4 pool lengths)
- Bike: 2 miles
- Run: 1 mile
- Swim: 25 yards (one pool length. Parents can swim with their child. Kick boards permitted.)
- Bike: 1 lap around the aquatic center parking lot
- Run: 1 lap run around the aquatic center parking lot
6-9 year olds:
