The 12th annual Spring Backyard Burn is a series of 5 and 10 mile trail running races held on some of the best trail networks in the Northern Virginia Area. All the courses include a mixture of forested fire roads, twisty hiking trails, several stream crossings, grassy fields, and minimal pavement.
The Spring and Fall Series are both independent of each other. A point system adding competitor's five-race point totals will be used to determine the top finishers within each age group of the series.

Course Description (5.5 mile OR 10.0 mile option):
Location, Location, Location. This race takes place just a stones throw from the Capital Beltway. This course is fast with mostly flat even terrain and only a few stream crossings. Competitors will run over cinder trails, under power lines, and along single-track. Wakefield is the backyard playground for many Northern Virginia runners, walkers, and mountain bikers. Bring family and friends to cheer you on, as this course is also spectator friendly.

From Interstate 495 (Capital Beltway):
- Take I495 to exit 54A WEST (Braddock Road).
- Travel for one quarter mile to the park entrance on your right.
- Follow the signs to parking and check-in.
