2011 Scofield Triathlon:

  • The Scofield Triathlon is the second event in this years Trifecta series.

    Sprint Course Info:

     

    Swim Course: .75k 
    Single lap clockwise triangle in the wake-less section of the State Park.  Expect 69 71 water temp and wetsuits are highly recommended.

    Bike Course: 20k
    Mostly flat, fast course with the only real hill right out of transition.  Make sure to have your bike in the easiest gear out of transition and then get ready to pick up speed as you leave the State Park heading for the dam and town of Scofield.  The turnaround is in the town of Scofield so approach slowly to avoid congestion.  Mostly flat and fast return,  give it everything.

    NOTE: You cannot ride your bike through the transition area. Bike course is NOT closed to traffic except at turnaround points.

    Please obey the Course officials at intersections and turnarounds. There will be no water aid stations on the bike course. Cyclists are personally responsible for the proper working condition of their bike. Bike helmets ARE required! No helmet, No racing. No exceptions! USAT officials will be present at this race, DO NOT ride 2-3 people deep on this course! Future races depend on your cooperation. Thank you for respecting it. It is the athletes responsibility to know and follow USA Triathlon rules. For complete rules visit www.usatriathlon.org. Absolutely no drafting another bike or any other vehicle is allowed. This is an individual endurance event. A space of at least 2-bike lengths must be left between competitors.

    1. ANSI-approved hard shell helmets are required. No helmet, no race, period.
    2. No individual support allowed.
    3. Each participant must be individually responsible for repair and maintenance of his or her own bike during the cycling portion of the triathlon.
    4. Cyclists are responsible for obeying all traffic laws and for any infractions.
    5. Two water bottles on your bike are recommended.

    Run Course: 5k 
    Flat out and back along the  lake.  Should be high 80s by this time so sunglasses, running hat and sunscreen are a must.  Go hard on the run, it is a smooth road and very spectator friendly.  Your friends and family can see most of the run so give it everything you have.

    From Salt Lake City:
  • Take I-15 South to Exit # 258 Highway 6 East (this is also the Price / Moab exit).
  • Proceed East up Highway 6 to the Highway 96 / Scofield State Park turn off.
  • Take highway 96 South approx 10 minutes to the Mountain View State Park race headquarters. (You will pass Madsen Bay State Park; this is NOT the race venue so DO NOT turn in at Madsen Bay)
  • Total drive time is 1 1/2 hours, 100 miles.
