2015 Middle O’ Mitten Triathlon:

Start your summer off right and celebrate Father’s Day weekend with a visit to the Middle of the Mitten for the 2nd Annual “Middle-O-’Mit” triathlon. Organizers and the communities within Clare County were excited about hosting the first multisport event in Harrison last year and are enthusiastic about making it bigger and better for 2015!

This year’s youth triathlon will be a well-organized event for both competitive and beginner multisport athletes.  Kids will complete a shorter, youth-appropriate distance event with volunteers lining the swim course and assisting in transition. The goal of this event will be to expose children to triathlon, build confidence in them, and of course, to have fun! Kids who want to compete a bit harder may enter the Youth Open Division, where rules are strictly enforced and the event is timed.  Open division youth athletes will go out onto the same road and run courses as the big folk.

Hey, why not make it a weekend event? Reserve your campsite right at the park so that you’ll be close to the action all weekend.  Organizers are working on some pretty cool incentives for those who choose to spend the weekend at Wilson State Park.

NOTE: A portion of the proceeds from ALL Tri To Finish events goes to the Johnny Burke Children’s Foundation. Organizers of the Middle O’ Mit have committed to matching Tri To Finish’s donation for this event!

Course Information:

Situated on 36 wooded acres, Wilson State Park is located on the north end of Budd Lake in Clare County. A sandy beach on a beautiful inland lake is the setting for a triangular swim where Sprint distance athletes will complete one lap, while Olympic distance athletes will complete two.

The bike event will be on an open road course after heading out of the park. The road is hilly, smooth, and fairly straight. Both the Sprint and Olympic distances are out and back.

The run event takes athletes the opposite direction when leaving the park. Athletes will run counter-clockwise around Budd Lake. Both the Sprint and Olympic run events are out and backs.

Directions:

From S. US 27 to Harrison Exit, right 3.5 miles to park; from N. US 27 to Harrison Exit, right 4 miles to park.
