Race Description

The Key Biscayne Half Marathon is designed to take runners over a spectacular and naturally scenic course. The 13.1-mile route starts and finishes at Virginia Key Beach Park. Runners race along the Rickenbacker Causeway surrounded by lush tropical landscapes and superior ocean views. At the midway point of the course, runners experience the William B. Powel Bridge, which will present a vertical challenge, but what will take your breath away will be the views of downtown Miami and Biscayne Bay. From there, you will run down Crandon Park Beach Boardwalk and the famous Old Zoo taking you back to the Causeway and finally through the finish line at Virginia Key Beach Park.

6:45 a.m. - Half Marathon & 10K Begins

The packet includes your performance tech shirt, bib number, timing chip, goodie bag, and any last minute instructions. 

Please bring your I.D. to pick up your packet and be prepared to show it to the volunteer staff that will be distributing the race materials.

** If you can’t make it to the early packet pick up location, a friend can pick up the packet on your behalf if you provide them with a photocopy of your I.D.


Time Limit

The KB Half Marathon has a time limit of 3h 30m (average pace of 16:00 minutes per mile). 

Course Information:

COURSE

The race participants will depart from the City of Miami, Virginia Key Park and Picnic Area (VKP) onto the Arthur Lamb Jr. Road (ALJ) traveling in a southern direction turning right onto the Rickenbacker Causeway. The race will continue to travel in a westerly direction (towards the mainland) on the north side of the causeway to Hobie Island center median. At this point runners will then U-turn and travel back in an easterly direction to the Crandon Park lot number 1 entrance continuing into the park for a short distance the traveling easterly back to the point of origin.  During the event, vehicular traffic will be routed onto the south side (Miami Seaquarium side) of the causeway in a counter-flow manner, from the Crandon Park maintenance loop (Calusa Circle), to Hobie Island center median. The finish and awards ceremony will take place within the City of Miami's VKP area.

Awards

All half marathon and 10K finishers will receive finisher medals. In addition, awards are given to the top 3 finishers in all categories in both the half marathon and 10K run. Special awards will be given to the Top Overall Male, Top Overall Female. Those receiving overall and master awards are removed from their age groups, bumping everyone else up in the age group standings. There is no double dipping. If you qualify for overall, you cannot get another award for masters overall or your age group.

Please stay for the awards ceremony if you are due an award. Unclaimed awards may be mailed if requested within 2 weeks after the event. You must pay $9 for shipping and handling. Go to the results of your race and click Mail next to your name to request your award. There is no other option to get an unclaimed award.
