Brian R. Bill Memorial Challenge : |
Obstacle/Mud Runs : Adventure Run With Obstacles |
The Brian R. Bill Memorial Challenge is a winter military-style obstacle course race that takes place on the historic Norwich University Campus in Northfield, Vermont and adjoining Paine Mountain, a scenic, point-to-point course during the peak of winter. It starts in Plumley Armory gymnasium, and proceeds east to the beautiful slopes of Paine. There is tremendous elevation on the hill, and many curves as it winds its way up to the old ski block at the peak. From there you race down and through the campus itself, all the while negotiating many military style obstacles. You finish the last quarter mile running past Norwich’s ROTC memorials to an awaiting bell where you “ring out,” signifying completion of the event. The event includes pre-race sponsorship tables, goods for sale, and post-race awards ceremony.
The proceeds from the Brian R. Bill Memorial Challenge benefit the Brian R. Bill Memorial Scholarship named in his honor, a U. S. Navy SEAL and Norwich alum. The 2015 event is open, and this year there is a 500-participant limit, so register early to ensure a spot.
