Triathlon : Swim 1.2 Miles, Bike 56 Miles, Run 13.1 Miles |
Surfing’s retro vibe meets high tech tri – join us for the second annual Surf City Challenge Long Course Triathlon – uniquely Santa Cruz in both course and spirit. We've recently added a shorter distance to this event for those of you not quite ready for the long course.
Participants will swim, bike and run next to some of the most famous surfing locations in the world.
The Long Course is a 1.2 mile swim around the historic Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf into the Cowell Beach next to Steamer Lane one of the area's premier beginning surf locations.
The 56 mile bike ride heads up the coast on Highway One. You can dream that you’re on the way to Mavericks while you pedal the famous surfer’s highway towards the turnaround point by the Pigeon Point Lighthouse, while watching surfers catch waves at some of the prized coastal surfing areas.
Your 13.1 mile run will follow along Santa Cruz’s famous Steamer Lane before your finish on the beach next to the wharf.
Not ready for a long course tri, or wrapping up your season of racing? Try the intermediate distance tri. The intermediate course is more than an Olympic distance tri and less than a half - just right for those who want a bit more, but aren't quite ready to do the whole distance. It's a 1.2 mile swim, a 28.5 mile bike ride and a 7.5 mile run along the same course as the long course tri.
