2015 University of Maine Black Bear Triathlon:
The BLACK BEAR TRIATHLON is a USAT Sanctioned Sprint Distance Triathlon for ages 16 and older. Compete as an individual for the full sprint triathlon (swim, bike, and run) or as a team member on a relay of two or three. The Black Bear Triathlon will be capped at
160 athletes.
The BLACK BEAR TRIATHLON will be held on the University of Maine at Orono campus. Athletes will self seed when registering based on their estimated time for a 525 yard swim. Swim waves of sixteen athletes in eight lanes will begin in the Wallace Indoor Pool. This is followed by a 12.5 mile bike that takes athletes into Old Town, then turning and coming back the same route to UMaine. Finish this amazing event off with a 3.1 mile (5K) run through the fields and trails adjacent to the campus, which brings athletes to a roaring finish!
Can't swim? Not a biker? Forget running? Consider being a member of a relay team for the BLACK BEAR TRIATHLON! A relay team consists of two or three members, who will complete a segment or two of the full sprint triathlon (swim, bike, and run). Need help creating a relay team?
