2015 Bridge to Pier Triathlon:

The Bridge to Pier Oak Island Sprint Triathlon is truly a breathtaking venue with everything first timers and veterans dream about in an event!

This sprint triathlon will begin with a 1/3rd of a mile ocean swim in the warm 70 degree waters off Oak Island, NC.

After emerging from the salt water athletes will transition to their bikes for a brand new 16.25 mile bike ride, taking athletes on a tour of Oak Island, with an out and back over the New Oak Island Bridge! Ocean breezes, Costal views, flat, and fast are the best ways to describe this route!

Just when you thought the bike course was the highlight of this event it's time to put on your running shoes. Triathletes head north on this 4 mile out and back run course that will take them to the end of the pier!

This event is open to everyone; from first time triathletes, relay teams, to veteran racers looking for a new challenge with breathtaking views.

Capped at 500 athletes we expect to sell out by early May!

Course Information:

BRIDGE TO PIER TRIATHLON SWIM COURSE (1/3rd Mile):
The swim course is rectangular shaped, with the swimmers traveling in a clockwise direction.  Participants will start with their small swim wave (40-50 athletes) waist deep in the water.  Keeping all the large orange buoys on right hand side you'll swim in a clockwise direction.  Once the 1/3rd mile is completed you'll exit the water at the southern end of the course (left side on the map) and run 200m over soft sand/grass to the transition area.  We'll have plenty of lifeguards and volunteers to keep you safe in the water.  If for any reason you're not able to complete the swim we'll safely pull you back to the beach and you may continue racing under an "unofficial" status

BRIDGE TO PIER TRIATHLON BIKE COURSE (16.25 Miles):
After emerging from the salt water athletes will transition to their bikes for an 16.25 mile bike ride on a route that was never before possible.  With the opening of the New Oak Island Bridge in November of 2010 athletes will ride out and back on the new bridge, while completed a tour of Oak Island!
The bike course is a lap course with one out and back section on the bridge!  The course can be described as flat and fast; perfect for the beginner attempting their first triathlon, or even the seasoned veteran looking for a new personal best split!  The largest inclines on course will be over the bridge!  We'll have plenty of volunteer marshals and police officers to ensure your safety and keep you on route!

BRIDGE TO PIER TRIATHLON BIKE COURSE (16.25 Miles):
Just when you thought the double bridge crossing was the highlight of this event it's time to put on your running shoes.  Triathletes head out on this 4 mile out and back run course that will take them to the end of the pier, something
never been done in the sport of triathlon before!
The 4 mile run is pancake flat at zero elevation, a dream to set your personal best!  We'll have aid stations at miles 1, 2, and 3 to keep you well hydrated and fueled up!  Best part of the out and back format is you'll see competing friends and spectators twice. For the more competitive racer you can gauge the competition!

BRIDGE TO PIER TRIATHLON TRANSITION AREA:
Without Limits triathlon staging areas are set up to ensure the safety and privacy of the racers and the security of their equipment. Please follow these guidelines: The Transition Area Opens at 6:15 am.  Race staff will close the transition area 15 minutes prior to the start of the 1st wave (7:45AM).  All Athletes must be out of the T/A by this time.
