Triathlon : Swim 200 yards Mountain Bike 6.5 miles Trail Run 2 miles |
The MTB Sprint Triathlon is a great entry-level off-road race with a 200 yd swim - 6 mile mt bike - and 2 mile trail run. Included with your entry fee is chance for awards and raffle prizes, hot post race food, and custom tech-tee race shirt – making this a fun-filled day and a great way to race a an off-road Triathlon.
Swim - The race starts with a 200 yard swim in Folsom Lake, water temperature around 58 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended.
Bike - The 6.5-mile bike course on single track trails around the lake is one loop with mixed terrain of single track, downhills, climbs, sand, and packed decomposed granite. All levels of riders will enjoy the course.
Run - The run course is on single-track trails along the lakeshore. There is a hill at mile 1. The out and back course has 2 aid stations that will be stocked with water, Clif drink and gel.
Transition Area - The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.
Granite Bay State Park on Folsom lake is located at the end of Douglas Blvd, 5-6 miles East of I-80. Turn right at the third stop sign after entering the park for the Granite Beach parking lot. There is a $12 vehicle charge for day-use or $125 for an annual pass. Contact phone 916 988 0205.
Aid stations will be located in the transition area and at mile one on the run course, serving cold water, and Electrolyte beverage.
There will be a first place overall award for the top male and female individual in The Mountain Bike Triathlon. Awards will be given to the top three athletes in 10-year age groups beginning with 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and ending with 70+ for male and female individuals.
Expected water temperature for Folsom Lake will be 54-58 degrees. Wetsuits are strongly recommended. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc...are not allowed.
Included with your race entry is a custom tech-tee race shirt, athlete goody bag, post race hot meal, raffle prizes and awards five-deep in each age group.
Included for each competitor is a post race meal of hot pasta with meat and vegetarian protein options, salad, fruit, cookies and beverage.
