2011 Bad to the Bone Duathlon:

Big Bone Lick State Park and South Western Boone County will be the site of the Sixth Annual Bad to the Bone Duathlon on September 17, 2011 sponsored by The Friends of Big Bone!

The run, bike, run format features views of some of Kentuckys most beautiful scenery: pleasant valleys, peaceful pastures, woodland trails, country roads and towns along the Ohio River.

Racers will need the tranquil scenery to deal with the physical toughness of the running trails & bike courses.

Course Information:

Run:

During the cross-country running portions of this race (Approximately 3.4 miles each), the competitors will tackle a wide variety of topography and surfaces.

From level asphalt with slight to moderate grades and narrow hilly woodland trails, to flat, wide, grass trails, this race will live up to its name! Trail running shoes are recommended.

Bike:

The bike route (25.3 miles) will take the competitor along portions of the Big Bone Scenic By-Way, through Rabbit Hash, and along the Ohio River.

Bikers will not only get breathtaking views of the Ohio Valley, but they will be challenged beyond expectations when tackling hills aptly named the Evil Twins and break neck flats and curves.

A road bike is highly recommended.

Big Bone Lick State park is located 22 miles southwest of Cincinnati, OH on KY 338, off US 42 - 127 and I-71 / I-75.
