Come on to the beautiful western North Carolina mountains this fall Oct 11th, 2014 and experience a race with beautiful scenery, historic significance and a great cause. You will be surrounded by the quaint downtown of Hayesville NC, where friendly people will greet you on the old town square filled with farmers and crafters, live entertainment, and a social event to help raise funding for the local Clay County Food Pantry. This is not just a run. It's a town event!

*Age Groups are: 12 and under; 13 to 18; 19 to 30; 31 to 50; 51 to 65; 65 and over. 1st, 2nd 3rd Medals for top runners in each catagory male and female.

*Live Music starts at 4:30 : Race Day Registration 5:00 to 5:45 : Race starts at 6:00 :

Race T-shirt for all runners and walkers pre-registered by Sept 28th

Course Information:

The race starts in the town square and proceeds to Veterans park where the runners have to get to Spikebuck Mound by crossing the road and going through the park. They will be handed a bracelet as proof they made it to the mound. On the return run around the park they will cross the road once more and proceed to Spikebuck Trail, this is the only part of the trail not paved. Once back to the street the proceed back to the square and when they cross the starting line again that is exactly 2 miles. Walkers can end their walk then if they like. On the second lap the runners DO NOT cross back to the park but continue to the trail and come back around once on the square instead of heading straight for the starting line again you will be directed back behind City Hall to circle around and will approach the Start/ Finish line from the opposite direction in which you started. That will bring you right into the square. We ask that you will park off the square where ever available to allow for close parking for spectators and patrons of the festival.

This is not only a 5K but a Festival with crafts, Farmers market and a live concert so bring your lawn chairs and stay awhile after the run. you'll be glad you did!
