The Turkey Burn AR is our annual season finale where the 2014 Point Series Champions will be crowned in a one-race playoff. Elite teams fight, scratch, and claw their way up the standings all year long in hopes of winning this race and ascending into immortality on our heralded hall of Past Winners.
Your team didn't reach 60 points to qualify for the championship? Don't worry the race is open to all spoilers who want a full 12-hour adventure. And what an adventure we have in store for both Sport and Elite competitors.
Wekiwa Springs State Park will be the backdrop for all the action. With approximately 7,000 acres of wild scenery and over 13 miles of trails there is no shortage of space to race. Biking will be a combination of unique single-track trails and service roads while the Boat sections will be on parts of the crystal clear Wekiva Wild and Scenic River System.
As a special treat, the Foot navigation segments will use true orienteering maps provided by Florida Orienteering. This location has held many FLO state championships.
Course designers Dave Brault and Jim Feudner have been crafting this contest since well before Pangea was ever around. The Turkey Burn AR in 2007 was our first ever event and it is always great to think about all the old friends we had going in and all the new friends we've made since then.
So get up and get out this Thanksgiving weekend and celebrate adventure with us. Bring the whole family or just tell them all about what your going to do at the turkey table on Thursday.
