TRI-2-UNIFY is a one of a kind event. It consists of a traditional Sprint event whose primary goal is to raise funds for Special Olympics Arizona and a Unified event where Special Olympics athletes compete on a relay team with Partners (those without an intellectual disability) for a modified distance. This event has had tremendous success in Phoenix by showcasing the skills of Special Olympics athletes while fostering inclusion and acceptance within our community. Let's do the same in Yuma!

Sprint Triathlon: 400 yard pool swim, 12.5 mile bike, 3.1 mile run

Unified Triathlon: 50 yard pool swim, 2.5 mile bike, 1/2 mile run

Other Info:

TRI-2-UNIFY includes a Sprint Race for more experienced Tri-athletes, as well as, a Unified Race that is tailored for beginners. Individuals or teams of 2 to 3 people may compete in the race. Anyone under the age of 18 years may participate with parental permission.

TRI-2-UNIFY in Phoenix has not only helped raise more than $300,000 for Special Olympics Arizona but has raised awareness of inclusion and acceptance within the community. Special Olympics Arizona serves over 16,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities and provides every person with a place of welcome, acceptance, and the chance to be their very best. Our goal at Special Olympics Arizona is to empower the over 180,000 Arizonans with intellectual disabilities to be healthy, productive, and respected members of society through our year-round sports training, competitions, and support programs.

What is Unified Sports?
Dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences, Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.
In Unified Sports, teams are made up of people of similar age and ability, which makes practices more fun and games more challenging and exciting for all. Having sport in common is just one more way that preconceptions and false ideas are swept away.
