October 2014 Doc Spackman Memorial Triathlon:
• This is the 32nd Annual Doc Spackman Memorial Triathlon on the beautiful Southern Illinois Campus.
• The race consists of a 385 yard lake swim, 5 mile bike, and 2 mile run.
• Race begins at 8am with race day check-in starting at 6:30am.
• All participants will receive a technical t-shirt.
Awards in the following age groups:
• male/female 15 and under, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and up.
Wheelchair Division & Teams:
• Team divisions consist of: male/female/coed in the following groups: junior (age total 104 or less), senior (age total 105 and greater), and specialty (i.e. ROTC, firefighter, media, athletics, school, etc.)
Course Information:
Swim:
The swim includes a triangle shaped course in the campus lake.
Water typically between 55-65 degrees.
Wetsuits are recommended.
Bike:
Loop course around campus and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Bike helmets ARE required.
Run:
The run course is a paved bike path meandering around the campus lake.
Small hills and twisty paths make this a challenging, but fast, run.
