The Finger Lakes Mud Run at Everest Park is a challenging, military-style trail run that’s intended to pit participants against one of THREE EXTREME COURSES. Yes, THREE! Each wave of participants joins a stampede of literally hundreds who’ll trudge through thick field grasses, over wooded underbrush, down and out of deep gullies, and ultimately face jaw-dropping obstacles––each designed to encourage teamwork and camaraderie.

The Finger Lakes Mud Run has THREE courses in 2014! Our first is the 5K short course, which is designed for those who’re looking for a fun challenge, but aren’t quite ready for the big time! Our second course is the 14K long course that explores over 750 acres of dense forest, sun-baked fields, and terrain that even scares the wildlife! Our third course, introduced in 2013, is the ever-popular Mini Muddy. This course lets kids ages 6-12 get completely covered in mud, just like the rest of the family!

The Finger Lakes Mud Run remains a volunteer-organized event that uses 100% of its net proceeds to extend the mission of Everest Park by offering a restful retreat for families of children who are experiencing life-altering health issues.

Which Mud Run Course Is Right for You?

We’ve made choosing a course reeeeeaaally easy! Humans ages 5 or younger are just too darn young, and humans ages 13 or older are too old to run the Mini Muddy course. It’s that simple!

For those ages 13 and older, you can choose the long or short course, but you won’t have to choose until you’re two miles into the course.

Below you’ll find information about all THREE courses. Whether you’re young or young at heart, you’ll enjoy a day of fun with friends and family no matter which course you choose.

Mini Muddy Course

The Mini Muddy course is designed for kids ages 6 to 12. Eligible guardians must accompany their 6-year-old minors along the course. Eligible guardians are not required to accompany their 7- through 12-year-olds through the course, but are certainly welcome to do so.

Several event staffers will be on hand to encourage and direct kids from the starting line to the finish line. Once our Mini Muddy buddies cross the finish line, our photographer will snap their photos. The Mini Muddy course is mainly flat and will include eight age-appropriate challenges.

Short Course

The short course is approximately 3.7 miles long and contains 15 obstacles. There are approximately 40 elevation changes greater than 20 feet on the course-some gradual, some abrupt. Several event staffers will be on hand at various locations to encourage and direct participants as needed. The short course includes the first 2.10 miles of the long course from the start line and the final 1.30 miles of the long course to the finish line. The short course also allows participants to enjoy the Finger Lakes Mud Run while staying almost entirely on Everest Park property.

Long Course

The long course is approximately 8.8 miles long and contains approximately 24 obstacles. There are 101 elevation changes greater than 20 feet on the course-some gradual, many abrupt. Several event staffers will be on hand at various locations to encourage and direct participants as needed. The long course diverges from the short course at approximately 2.10 miles from the start line and converges again approximately 1.30 miles from the finish line. This course allows participants to enjoy the Finger Lakes Mud Run while on Everest Park property, but also allows them to travel onto nine surrounding participating properties.
