Tri-City Kids' Triathlon : Kids Race |
Triathlon : Distances vary depending on age. |
The Tri-City Kids' Triathlon was created to foster a healthy
lifestyle and a sense of accomplishment for kids ages 6-15. Each triathlete will swim, bike, and run to
complete the competition. NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY.
This is a fantastic opportunity for your child to participate in
an enjoyable, low-key athletic event that emphasizes health, self-esteem,
self-confidence and fun, in a safe, family-friendly environment.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the Fibrous Dysplasia
Foundation, a non-profit organization which provides information, advocacy and
support for patients and caregivers of those with Fibrous Dysplasia and McCune
Albright Syndrome and The International Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia
Foundation (IWMF), a non-profit that provides support and encouragement for
those with Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia and their family members, provides
information and educational programs and supports research leading to a cure.
The course will be well-marked and staffed with plenty of
volunteers.
Swim
The swim will take place in the indoor pool at Dow High School.
Ages 6-11 will complete one length of the pool (25 yd.). Ages 12-15 will
complete two lengths of the pool (50 yd.). Those doing the Open Division will
swim four lengths of the pool (100 yd.).
Athletes will then proceed to the transition area to find their bike.
Bike
The bike course will start in the parking lot of Dow High.
Athletes will exit the parking lot turning right onto Main St. All racers go out and back on Main Street
with those ages 6-11 turning around at University Dr and racers in the 12-15
age groups, as well as those in the Open Division turning around at Orchard
Drive. All athletes complete the bike
portion of the race by returning to the parking lot, where they will park their
bike in the transition area. Athletes
must wear their helmets throughout the bike course as well as while walking
their bikes through the transition area. There is no riding allowed in the
transition area/chutes.
Run
Athletes ages 6-15 will complete a 1/2 mile run on the track of
Dow High School, finishing in front of the bleachers. Those doing the Open
Division will complete a 1 mile run on the track of Dow High, also finishing in
front of the bleachers.
The Tri Kids Try Kids Triathlon would like to open the race
to special needs youth who would like to compete. Please contact Jen Coleman, Race Director, at
[email protected] if your child is interested in racing and might need
assistance or accommodations during the race.
We would like all racers needing assistance or accommodations registered
by July 1st to enable us to provide everyone the best race experience possible.
