8K Overview:
The Grand River Run 8K chip-to-chip timed trail race is perfect for novice and seasoned trail and road runners alike. The course is mostly flat, yet challenging as it takes runners on a nearly 5-mile scenic journey over streams, through woodlands, thickets and restored prairie meadows at a 240-acre nature preserve. The race consists of nearly equal parts paved and non-paved mowed grass and hard packed clay surfaces while affording runners scenic views of the Grand River and the river valley throughout most of the route. The paved trail portion is flat and fast with ample passing opportunities.
Don’t be surprised if a Bald Eagle or Blue Heron takes flight midway through your run. Expect an 8K course mostly untraveled by the “typical" road runner, but reveled by the exceptional few off-road warriors. Join us for a race that promises to heighten your awareness and appreciation for local nature--in a unique, challenging and supportive, family-friendly environment!
